Pitch & Power 0.4.11: a stadium that grows, a club that lives
The Windows PC early beta of Pitch & Power: Football Club Owner is on itch.io for US$10, and update 0.4.11 is the latest version. Here is what has changed since the first early beta, 0.4.0. The game is still in development, so expect bugs, and features and balance may change.
Your stadium and town
- The stadium now grows as a single connected ground. There are no floating stands, every level has its own outer casing, and the corners join up.
- A new Main Stand closes the ring. The dressing room, coach's office, press room and players' tunnel are inside it.
- From stadium level 4 your owner's office moves upstairs, between the VIP boxes. You watch matches from its balcony.
- Around the ground there are tree-lined avenues, pavements and street lamps, a fan plaza and, from level 7, a car park and coach bay in a service yard.
Club life
- Tactics board: player ratings, and shirt numbers you can read.
- Academy intake: scouted goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward prospects. Their price depends on your division and academy level.
- Meet your coach in the coach's office once a week. You can praise, criticise or make a request.
- Office meetings now happen with both people sitting on the sofas.
- Business deal scenes: you visit the business when you sign a deal (you can skip these in Settings). This art is a stand-in for now; better art is coming.
Matches
- Dribbling looks real. The player pushes the ball ahead with one foot, the ball stays in front, and he no longer glides.
- Defenders react. They face the ball, jockey, step across and stretch for passes. Slow passes can be cut out.
- Build-up depends on team quality. Good teams pass slickly; weaker teams play it long and scrappy.
- Penalty fouls happen in live play, with no more players waiting in position before the foul.
- Offside highlights show the whole team moving, with the defensive line stepping up.
- Cut-backs from the byline, a shoulder-to-shoulder free-kick wall, keepers pushing saves round the post, more goal variety (cut inside and shoot), and the physio running on for injuries.
Press, training and interface
- Owner press conferences: a title card, 11 owner questions and 77 new voiced lines.
- Training ground: realistic drills with 8–10 players, rondos, a goalkeeper drill and a cone dribble.
- New interface: 6 hubs on a left rail, breadcrumbs and Back, a "Go to" search, badges, an inbox and a Continue button, in a glass look with blur.
- Pay to finish construction faster, money sliders, a club crest and kit creator (home and away), transfer history, Skip replay, and pause now freezes everything.
- About 70 new animations (training, physio, rooms, town, meetings, kicks), plus finger animation on the hands.
Coming next (in development)
- A finished Main Stand look, better keeper dives and saves, and cleaner clearances.
- Much more commentary and club talk: shootouts called kick by kick, more variety, players answering your team talks, and the coach and visitors speaking in meetings.
- A living business district for deal scenes (people, cars, workers), plus new outfits and faces.
Known issues
- The Main Stand close-up still looks unfinished (some see-through walls). It is being rebuilt.
- After a keeper pushes a save away, the ball can change direction in mid-air. This is fixed for the next update.
