Pitch & Power 0.4.15: a living business district, more voices and better keepers

Update 0.4.15 is out on itch.io for the Windows early beta. If you're coming from 0.4.11, this one download brings four updates' worth of changes. Your careers carry over as before.

A real business district

When you sign a business deal, you now visit the company in a shared business district full of people and traffic.

  • 12 kinds of business, three sizes each, every one with its own building, forecourt and an interior you can see through the windows and open garages: a restaurant terrace, a logistics yard with forklifts, a media studio with a satellite dish, an energy site with tanks and a wind turbine, a clinic with an ambulance bay, and more.
  • The partner's real company name is on the sign.
  • You can now negotiate. Ask for 10% more or push for 25% more, up to twice per offer. The partner may agree, hold firm or walk away (and a walk-out makes the news), so choose your moments.

The club talks back

289 new voiced lines. The highlights:

  • Penalty shootouts are called kick by kick.
  • The stadium announcer reads out added time.
  • There are calls for free kicks, slick or scrappy build-up, late saves and more, and the pundit now joins at half-time.
  • Around the club, your coach answers you in meetings, the academy scout presents the intake, and players respond to your team talks.
  • Visitors talk on your office sofa, and the board, the local paper and agents phone you.

Better goalkeepers

  • Keepers now play a real save every time: pick-ups, chest catches, tips, punches and smothers. Before, some saves just bounced off a frozen keeper.
  • Dives are timed like real keepers: they hold their set position, then push off late.
  • The arm wobble is gone.
  • Saves pushed round the post fly in one straight line, and clearances leave the boot cleanly.

Around the club

  • The Main Stand is finished, with a solid front, the owner's box upstairs and a proper back entrance plaza.
  • The coach's office now has a window bay looking out on the pitch.
  • Office visitors sit down on the sofa in one smooth move. The visitor's chair now faces you across the table.
  • New outfits for the press camera crew, and your coach sometimes wears a second outfit on non-match days.
  • Hand props: players and staff hold real props in their animations.

On the pitch

  • Corners: the taker no longer nudges the ball before the kick.
  • Shots: the support foot is planted flat on power shots instead of digging into the grass.
  • Goal captions always name the player the match report credits.
  • The referee stays upright after showing a card.

Known issues

  • Three business visits (one restaurant, one property company and one brewery size) still use the older stand-in stage.
  • A few forecourt props sit right in front of the camera.
  • Players sometimes slow down too sharply off the ball.
  • The outer stadium wall is still plain at some levels.

We're working on all of these for the next update. As always, this is an early beta: please keep a backup of your saves before updating.

About the early beta

Pitch & Power: Football Club Owner is an early beta on itch.io for US$10, including every future itch.io update up to the full release. Steam keys for itch.io buyers are planned but not guaranteed. Some of the game's code, art, voices, music and text were made with AI tools, including the new voice lines and parts of the business district art.

Thanks for playing, and for every bug report. See the game page for new screenshots of the business district and the Main Stand, or contact the studio if something goes wrong.
